How to use The Zaky HUG®

A versatile device engineered to virtually replace all developmental care aids (such as positioners, nests, transitional aids, bonding aids, and swaddling), helping them feel calm, loved, secure, and centered.

  • Bonding, Attachment

Parents love staying connected with their babies through scent and touch, even when apart. To create this bond, simply warm and scent The Zaky HUG® by placing it on your chest or behind your neck for about an hour. For an even deeper connection, one hand can carry mom's scent and the other dad's, offering your baby the comfort of both parents' presence.

  • Transport and Transition

Have parents scent The Zaky HUG® while the baby is prepared for transport. Bring it along to offer soothing comfort and the familiar touch of the parent. The Zaky HUG® supports transitions—whether between units, hospitals, home, or other places—by providing a sense of security through scent and gentle touch. For hospital discharge or transport, place The Zaky HUGs® on either side of your baby in the car seat for added support. Consistent scent, warmth, and gentle support help ease transitions, promoting emotional well-being for both baby and parents.

  • Complement Swaddling

The Zaky HUG® can be used alongside swaddling to provide extra comfort and support. However, it's important to limit swaddling, as babies need time to move freely, develop their muscles and joints, and learn to self-regulate. The Zaky HUG® offers a gentle, soothing touch when not swaddled, allowing your baby to feel secure while encouraging healthy movement and development.

  • Reduces the incidence of pressure sores and head molding

The Zaky HUG® helps reduce the risk of pressure sores and head molding by gently distributing pressure across your child's body. Its soft, ergonomic design supports vulnerable areas like the head, shoulders, and hips, promoting circulation and relieving strain. By providing consistent support, it encourages healthy positioning and reduces the chance of head flattening, allowing natural movement and comfort in various positions such as supine, prone, or nesting.

  • Nesting In Any Position

For nesting, The Zaky HUG® creates a nurturing, protective space that feels like being cradled in a caregiver’s arms. When placed around your child, it forms a soft, secure boundary that promotes safety and calm. The ergonomic design supports proper alignment while allowing gentle movement, soothing your child and promoting healthy development. The weighted design and parent-scenting feature provide comfort and connection, reducing stress and fostering brain development, attachment, and restful sleep.

  • Prone Positioning

For prone positioning, The Zaky HUG® provides gentle, ergonomic support to help the child feel secure, especially soothing for intubated babies or children.

Placing it under, over, or around the baby mimics a parent's comforting touch, reducing stress and enhancing safety.

It supports proper alignment while allowing freedom of movement, helping reduce startle reflexes and promoting relaxation and sleep. The Zaky HUG® also encourages natural flexion, supporting development in the ICU.

  • Supine Position and Nesting

When placed around the child, it mimics the shape and feel of a human hand, promoting a sense of safety and security. The Zaky HUG® offers ergonomic support that helps maintain proper alignment and stability in the supine position, while also allowing freedom of movement for the head and limbs. It is weighted, but parents can select the appropriate weight to suit their child’s needs. The material is soft and calming, scented with the parent’s scent to provide an additional sense of closeness and bonding.

  • Side lying, boundaries

Fold The Zaky HUG® into a firm, flexible roll to create a comforting body pillow that promotes self-regulation for infants of any size. For side-lying, it gently cradles the child, supporting proper alignment of the head, neck, and limbs. The soft, secure boundary mimics your touch, reducing the risk of rolling and helping your child feel safe. Its adjustable weight and soothing material encourage restful sleep and natural movement for healthy development.

  • Boundaries, Containment

Select the weight, firmness, and thickness of The Zaky HUG® by adjusting the filling to meet the child’s needs. Use less than 10-15% of their body weight on top of their torso, and only the fabric’s weight for micro-preemies.

Each Zaky HUG weighs around 1.1 lbs (500 grams) and can be adjusted for personalized care. Its ergonomic design supports healthy alignment, reduces overstimulation, and helps calm sudden movements like the startle reflex.

The customizable weight and parent-scenting feature offer both physical and emotional comfort, promoting better sleep, development, and a sense of attachment.

  • Anywhere and for Everyone

The Zaky HUG® is designed for use anywhere and by everyone. Whether in the hospital, at home, or on the go, it provides a comforting and familiar presence for babies, toddlers, and even older children or adults in need of support. Its versatile design offers soothing, ergonomic care that can be tailored to individual needs, making it a reliable companion for anyone seeking comfort, security, and connection, regardless of age or setting.

  • Therapy and Tummy Time

The Zaky HUG® is a valuable tool for therapy and tummy time, offering gentle, ergonomic support that encourages proper positioning and muscle development. During tummy time, it helps babies strengthen their neck, shoulder, and core muscles while promoting healthy movement and alignment.

The Zaky HUG® can be adjusted to provide the right level of support, making tummy time more comfortable and effective.

Its soft, calming design helps reduce stress, providing a sense of security during therapy and developmental activities, fostering both physical and emotional well-being.
